Vanakkam. I want to talk about mental corruption, mental tax, mental governance, and mental capital. Where are we living right now? Can you guess where we are living? Definitely it's not Earth. We are living on a treadmill. A fast-paced moving world where everything you do is like a slow-motion hero trying to dodge bullets. Yes, so what have we done, to make a simple, nice, green park pathway change into a treadmill staring at a plain wall? Why?

Okay, now drink a glass of water. Let's sit down and understand what we are up to. We are consuming data at a rate where we are now data obese. We have consumed so much data that we have no way to retrieve the most important data the one that is necessary, the one that is tailored to us. So this obesity sits in us as dead weight. For example, the data we get from social media, news, people around us. And you see, we are so bombarded by data through different streams. Think of it this way: even if you feel you are one week away from all this data, the data still reaches you through the people around you. It's like an echo chamber everything is amplified to the fullest hertz. So the vibration increases and we have to resonate with it, naturally, right? But here is where you stop. You pause. The concept of mental governance comes in.

mental Capital

Think of yourself as a government, and knowledge is the wealth you acquire and spend through wisdom. The capital for this would be filtered the one skill or knowledge you need the most, the one that interests you the most. That's all. But what happens when you are contaminated by information all over you and the filtering does not happen? Think of the knowledge you need to use, but it gets contaminated ,a currency mixed with counterfeit, a currency you cannot transfer. That is where mental capital stands.

To master mental capital, you first have to identify that one knowledge you will acquire even if the world stops. It can be anything. For example, let's take a baker. He loves croissants and would love to make them every day. One fine morning, AI and robotics take over and start making croissants automatically, and he feels he still needs to keep the spirit of making it so he does, even when the world catches up with automatic humanoid robotic croissant makers. But at one point, it becomes zero day. We do boring, repetitive tasks, and the robotic army tries and finishes the croissant in so-and-so minutes, made so efficiently made in such a way that the baker is the only authentic person in the world who knows how to do it by hand, when there is no internet, a power cut, and so many external factors governing it.

So we start with mental capital, fine tune it, filter it, and start working on it consistently. I want to stress on something called replenishing resources. Anything will perish, but consistency is the only thing that can replenish. So we are on the track to get clarity.

mental Tax

When you acquire capital, there is obviously tax, right? When you get, you give. There are two types of tax we can see here:

  • The tax you pay when you convert knowledge to wisdom — applying a new learning, like making a new type of croissant, and losing or making mistakes along the way.
  • The tax you pay while you acquire knowledge — the time, money, and effort the baker spends to learn how to make a neat croissant every day.

So this is the direct tax, which will definitely help you in the long term. But the indirect tax of time, effort, and money will also only help you in the long term and this indirect tax depends on the direct tax alone.

So no one in this treadmill world likes to spend tax, and they all want everything on all the best days which is exactly what we want. So what do we do? We shortcut. It's a brain model called heuristics, or cognitive bias. We tend to form shortcuts to get what we want fastest, without spending the tax (energy, money, and time).

So I want you to think how many of you started skipping sections or doom-scrolling while reading this, watching a video, or doing something else? We are just task-stacking to save energy and time.

mental Corruption

Now tell me — who is the 87th richest woman in the world? Comment down if you found it. Well, there comes mental corruption. So why aren't you a billionaire by now? Is there something like a secret sauce? Is there some superpower they have? No. It's as simple as this: they have governance over their mind. As simple as that. We fail to govern our system — the mind, the body, then the phases of life.

the corrupted governance

This is the exact image of what we do on a daily basis. We choose:

  • Instagram over three pages of a book
  • Pizza over salad
  • Money over freedom

We all survive in a life where we are meant to be lived. It's not philosophy it's just mental corruption that took over.

So what makes us this corrupted version of ourselves? It's comparison. We constantly compare ourselves with the outer world, and we tend to get corrupted easily. We also subconsciously feel we don't have time. But we do have time.

The time you had until now to read this article that exactly explains why you are ready to be aware. It's awareness and decision that made you stay till this point, where you understand what is corrupted, what is choosing you, and you are reading the 1000th word of the article.

mental Governance

Now let's talk about governance. Each one of us — just like 8 billion unique minds and bodies on this treadmill — we do have our own governance. And we have to tap into it. I would suggest you extract that one system in your mental government that will make you stop running and start exploring.
